Priscilla Williamson...Passionate about Helping Landowners Preserve the Land

The accomplishment I am most excited about is $350,00 in earmarked funds allocated to install a control flood practice in a minority community in Ofahoma.  The flooding was affecting roads, homes and most of all, farmland.  This project has been in the making since 1985.  The landowners in this community are beginning to sign up for EQIP and SFI.

In this last year, through one-on-one contacts and field days, the number of limited resource and minority farmer participating in conservation program has increased from 5 percent to 18 percent.  These individuals received 90 percent cost share to put much-needed conservation practices on the ground.

This is what I am the most passionate about--helping landowners preserve something they love, the land.  When I hear a landowner say that without your assistance and cost share, they would not be able to solve many of their resource concerns, that is when I am glad to be an NRCS employee.
