USDA-NRCS Chief Visits Second Congressional District

 Jackson, Miss., January 14, 2004 - Bruce Knight, Chief, USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service, headquartered in Washington, DC, is visiting with Congressman Bennie Thompson, District 2, on Friday, January 16, 2004, to tour the district and discuss natural resource issues with landowners.

Congressman Thompson has stated that many of his constituents have benefited from NRCS projects and has invited Chief Knight to view some of these successes first-hand. There are also future potential conservation projects that Congressman Thompson and Chief Knight will be discussing.

Clarence Smith, Chairman of the Bolivar County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Bill Brown, President of the Board of Supervisors in Humphreys County, will express their appreciation to Chief Knight and Congressman Thompson at a luncheon at the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16. Several local landowners have been invited to discuss programs and conservation issues with Chief Knight.
