James Johnson, Area Conservationist

James Johnson was born and reared in Choctaw County, Alabama and graduated high school in Silas, Alabama. He attended Jones County Junior College and graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Agronomy. Upon graduation from college, he served as agronomist with the Mississippi Department of Transportation responsible for roadside vegetation establishment and control. In June of 1970, he began his career with Soil Conservation Service/Natural Resources Conservation Service and served as soil conservationist in Hernando, MS prior to becoming district conservationist in Holly Springs, MS. In 1975, he was reassigned as resource conservationist to the Hattiesburg, MS area office and served there until 1985. He was then reassigned as area conservationist in Greenwood, MS where he has served to the present.
