Mississippi Civil Rights Mission
The Mississippi Civil Rights Committee is an advisory body to the State
Conservationist, who serves as the Deputy Equal Opportunity Officer. The
Committee seeks to promote and assist in meaningful and effective affirmative
action consistent with the goals and objectives set forth by management.
- It provides feedback on the performance of equal opportunity, workforce
diversity, and civil rights program.
- It identifies areas of weakness, and makes
recommendations for improvements to Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS)
officials in the state of Mississippi.
- It identifies emerging areas needing special attention and makes
recommendations to the State Conservationist regarding policies, practices,
and procedures that adversely affect the achievement of equal opportunity,
workforce diversity, and civil rights goals and objectives.
The Committee also seeks to remove the perception/myth that civil rights is a
minority issue by using open and honest communication at all levels.
